BW & U/S #2

Today is day #6 on the Follistim and I had my 2nd blood work and ultra sound appointment.

I am not feeling positive.

Left Ovary - 4 follicles over 12 - 3 still under 12
Right Ovary - 3 follicles over 12 - 10 still under

Now, this being my first IVF, I really have no idea if this is what is to be expected or not. I keep reminding myself that two days ago, those 7 follicles were all measuring at about a 10, so the meds are working. They just seem to be working slowly.

My tentative retrieval date of Tuesday doesn't seem to be realistic (not to me anyway) at this point, as that would mean I would be taking the Ovidrel shot on Sunday and the nurse this morning said that she thinks that I will probably be taking the follistim through the weekend. I have 1,050IU of follistim left (4 more days worth at the 225 dose). Lets hope that we won't have to buy more.

I will report back this afternoon with my E2 level and hopefully with some feedback from the nurse.

*UPDATE*
The nurse called and my E2 level is now at 787. They said that my lining looks very nice and is thickening like they want it to. She also said that the E2 level is normal for the number of follicles that I have growing right now. I asked her if I am responding too slowly with only 7 of larger size and she said no, that there is a range that they look for at this point in the cycle and that I am within the range.

So that's good news I guess.

I am to take the 225 dose tonight and tomorrow night and go in on Saturday morning for another bw & u/s.

So, time to keep chugging along. I am starting to feel like I might float away with this bloat that is settling in!

  1. Mols,

That is a totally normal number for where you are in your cycle. It's funny with IVF...once you hit a "magic dose" or magic number of days your ovaries just take off and make follicles! Keep in mind that they will grow about 2mm per day once and will continue to do that once you take the ovidrel so it sounds like you are going to get a good number of follies! Stay positive. I think it helped me but try to visualize little follicles swelling up in your ovaries like balloons. I did that for a few days and the next time I came in my ovaries had gone nuts!
