Retrieval Day

I am happy to report that this mornings procedure went very well. Can I just say how much I love the feeling of coming out of general anesthesia followed by a vicodin and loving husband to be my chauffeur and rush out to get me a nice hot cup of decaf? :-)

They got 12 eggs. Now, I realize that some people are lucky enough to literally get dozens upon dozens - but getting 12 after only having 7 measurable just the other day makes me happy and gives me hope. It also makes me feel like we might just have smooth sailing in terms of any potential complications (OHSS). I have felt great thorough the meds for the most part, only gained about 2 lbs and other than some cramping on the left side and back - I feel great right now.

Apparently I get to start the lovely 3X/day endometrin suppositories tomorrow and call the Lab in the afternoon to find out how many fertilized. J and I made a stop at CVS on the way home so that I could get some panty-liners in preparation for the suppositories. After being rung up, I said to the young guy behind the check out that I thought the liners were on sale. He had to run a price check and brought back the CVS brand (apparently the wooziness had me confused between the two) except he brought the actual pads and not the liners. I pointed out that there was a difference, so I would just stick to the brand name ones and he blurted out - "Sorry, I know nothing about pads." J just stood there (I am sure there was some embarrassment on his part in front of the giant line of people behind us) and didn't say a word :-)

I was told that they will also let me know when my transfer will be at that time. I am a little confused by this, as I thought that was determined after they watched them for a couple of days but I am going to have faith that they are the docs, embryologists, etc. and know what they are doing, so I am not going to question it.

Off to enjoy the couch for the remainder of the day :-) :-)
